The expansion of populations of invasive species continues to compromise the ecological and economic integrity of our natural resources. The negative effects of invasive species on native biota are widely reported. However, less is known about how the duration (i.e., age of oldest invaders) and intensity (i.e., density and percent cover) of an invasion influences native plant diversity and abundance at the microsite scale. We examined the influence of density, percent cover, and age of Amur honeysuckle (a nonnative invasive shrub), and several environmental factors on native plant taxa at 12 mixed hardwood forests in Indiana, USA. Overall, study sites with the greatest taxonomic diversity (Shannon's Diversity; H′), richness (S), percent cover, and density of native vegetation also had the lowest percent cover of Amur honeysuckle in the upper vertical stratum (1.01 to 5 m). Based on linear mixed model analyses, percent cover of Amur honeysuckle in the upper vertical stratum was consistently and negatively correlated with H′, S, total percent cover, and woody seedling density of native taxa at the microsite scale (P < 0.05). Duration of Amur honeysuckle at the microsite scale was not significant when percent cover of Amur honeysuckle in the upper vertical stratum was included in models. However, duration of Amur honeysuckle invasion was significantly correlated with dependent variables and with upper-stratum honeysuckle cover, suggesting that older Amur honeysuckle in a microsite resulted in greater light competition from above for native understory plant species. Beyond increased cover and shading, our results do not provide evidence of duration-related effects from long-term dominance of honeysuckle in our sampled mixed hardwood forest sites.

Objective
To report trends in underweight, overweight and obesity in 12–15-year-old adolescents and examine changes in dieting behaviour, which have been less well documented.
DesignComparison of two independent representative cross-sectional surveys.
SettingNorthern Ireland.
SubjectsWeight and height were objectively measured in 1324 boys and 1160 girls in 1996 and 1274 boys and 1374 girls in 2007. Participants reported whether they were following any particular diet including a self-proposed or prescribed weight-reduction diet.
ResultsOverweight and obesity increased in girls from 15 % to 23 % and 2 % to 6 %, respectively. Increases were more modest in boys with overweight increasing from 13 % to 18 % and obesity from 3 % to 6 %. The proportion of underweight adolescents decreased from 9 % to 6 % in girls and 8 % to 5 % in boys. Evidence of social disparity was observed in girls from a manual socio-economic background, with overweight/obesity prevalence rates increasing from 21 % to 36 % compared with 15 % to 26 % in girls from a non-manual background. Despite these trends fewer adolescents, in particular girls, reported following weight-reduction diets (14 % of overweight/obese girls in 2007 v. 21 % in 1996; 8 % of boys in 2007 v. 13 % in 1996). Of these girls, the proportion from a manual background following weight-reduction diets decreased from 25 % to 11 %.
ConclusionsOverweight and obesity are continuing to increase in adolescents despite government and media awareness strategies. There also appears to be reduced dieting behaviour, despite increasing body weight, particularly in girls from manual socio-economic backgrounds.

Summary
Introduction
This chapter has four interrelated objectives. One objective is to provide an overview and evaluation of the many studies published during the last 20 years in which experienced auditors formed judgments or made decisions while performing audit tasks. The second objective is to recommend issues for and approaches to future research. A third objective is to compare findings of the audit judgment/decision–making (J/DM) studies with nonaudit J/DM studies, thereby increasing nonaudit J/DM researchers' awareness of these audit studies. The fourth objective is to provide a common foundation for Chapter 7 by Libby on knowledge and memory in auditing and Chapter 8 by Messier on audit decision aids. Meeting these objectives, as discussed later, should enhance the accessibility of audit J/DM research findings, highlight boundary conditions of extant theories, focus future research on promising issues, identify profitable methods for future research, and stimulate J/DM theory construction and revision.
The remainder of this chapter is divided into seven sections. The next section defines auditing and the following one highlights the objectives of J/DM research in the audit context. In these sections it is noted that the audit J/DM studies we review have primarily sought to: (a) describe how and how well auditors make judgments and decisions, (b) prescribe how to improve audit J/DM, and (c) contribute to nonaudit J/DM knowledge. In addition, it is noted that the totality of audit tasks/contexts features make auditing both distinctive and a rich arena for developing and testing J/DM theories.
